tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-77745991040581922192024-03-14T08:08:08.898-03:00My wonderful blog of randomness, food, and random stuff. This is my random blog. I figure I'll post about random things. Food, Recipes, cooking, my job search, what charity work I'm doing. Things like that. Meltedsnowgirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13512204394279906515noreply@blogger.comBlogger60125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7774599104058192219.post-27330777248404736702013-05-24T10:46:00.003-03:002013-05-24T10:46:43.224-03:00Massive amounts of food porn here.Ok, none of these are *my* recipes. I DID however get some mutton in my CSA share this week. Was completely lost as to what to do with it. So I googled..and googled..<br />
<br />
This is what I got<br />
<br />

I'm back. I should blog more often but meh..I'll blog when I wanna blog.<br />
<br />
Today, I'll share my recipe for mince pork pie..or as Quebequois call it "Tourtiere"<br />
<br />
Here are the ingredients:<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<b>FILLING</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_qUc3NlHgwSTpyCMEzhGZGt_el9LgVmT9GSSI5o5BO6YiXOkaYvzKBPplzJHOfYVq9RBve5rqfMRcEmTHjK5bBa0j6nCsypNpk7Sf5an0p_wA63BVRrrV8XCDnoKnpvcHufpY3fi1V7k/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_qUc3NlHgwSTpyCMEzhGZGt_el9LgVmT9GSSI5o5BO6YiXOkaYvzKBPplzJHOfYVq9RBve5rqfMRcEmTHjK5bBa0j6nCsypNpk7Sf5an0p_wA63BVRrrV8XCDnoKnpvcHufpY3fi1V7k/s320/002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>5 slices of bacon, chopped (it's the stuff in the pan)</li>
<li>1lb of ground pork</li>
<li>2 medium potatoes, washed and diced small</li>
<li>2 medium leeks sliced</li>
<li>1 medium onion minced</li>
<li>2tbsp Clubhouse Montreal Chicken Spice</li>
<li>2tsp Dried Thyme</li>
<li>2tsp dried rosemary</li>
<li>1tsp dried sage</li>
<li>*of course you CAN use Fresh and I fully encourage that, I didn't have fresh so I used dried*</li>
<li>1 heaping tablespoon of minced garlic...or 3 cloves minced give or take</li>
</ul>
<br />
Step 1: Cook the chopped bacon in your skillet. Do so until it's starting to get crisp.<br />
Step 2: Put the pork, garlic, leek, onion and spices into the pan with the bacon, mush it all up and cook until no longer pink and crumbled<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-6TDX0jEQLyY81JkzHNjlR_EbGhg0IZxtETScpmcbrdBpJoZiZcXBD5g1wXw3Jr6_e8TIBikkVQPIexhF8-ur7gbhnlEdMbkqZEgExgXtLCuGyZwR9cE-NzOdzdYBsRi6mePHa77EGKE/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-6TDX0jEQLyY81JkzHNjlR_EbGhg0IZxtETScpmcbrdBpJoZiZcXBD5g1wXw3Jr6_e8TIBikkVQPIexhF8-ur7gbhnlEdMbkqZEgExgXtLCuGyZwR9cE-NzOdzdYBsRi6mePHa77EGKE/s320/003.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
While the pork is cooking, put your diced potatoes in the microwave for about 2 minutes to partially cook them.<br />
<br />
Once the pork mixture is done put in a bowl with the potatoes, mix well and put in the freezer to cool off.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzfgvXPZ2c1PW9yMweAXWJ4Ghp42uJsBy-vjc-LSXU0KYbfcb4pBv7EB7Z_THI9zaK7wJxKE6HC5cypAeyMFd-er-XIsdQzPPqXM5yA7jvO9u2CxJJvymRXbgU6rVGSO8uDSkW11hmTrU/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzfgvXPZ2c1PW9yMweAXWJ4Ghp42uJsBy-vjc-LSXU0KYbfcb4pBv7EB7Z_THI9zaK7wJxKE6HC5cypAeyMFd-er-XIsdQzPPqXM5yA7jvO9u2CxJJvymRXbgU6rVGSO8uDSkW11hmTrU/s320/004.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>PASTRY!</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
1 Cup Shortening/Lard/Coconut oil/ Whatever Solid Fat you choose to use, I don't care.<br />
2 1/4 cups of Pastry flour<br />
1/2 tsp salt<br />
ice water.<br />
<br />
Now, you take a cold fork or pastry cutter, and blend the flour, fat and salt in a bowl until it looks all crumbly like..almost like coarse oatmeal. Keep it cold. then add the ice water bit by bit until it comes together to form a dough ball. Don't knead don't use your hands..keep anything warm away..or it turns to crap, and you don't get the nice light flaky pastry goodness.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3EaTpsxVxdjdQfLmvoO9_dH49JPKA8m1tbQffH9Tmk4CTqvmLj5HtsaXnB8nNLt_ZCW8umR76_ckqlbNsiXZId5eFV4Qnk8zCHks0uHqVYtvvHNRqbXbesnCfJltN70ky45H3QTFLTUw/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3EaTpsxVxdjdQfLmvoO9_dH49JPKA8m1tbQffH9Tmk4CTqvmLj5HtsaXnB8nNLt_ZCW8umR76_ckqlbNsiXZId5eFV4Qnk8zCHks0uHqVYtvvHNRqbXbesnCfJltN70ky45H3QTFLTUw/s320/005.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />Split the dough ball into 2 halves, Roll out on a floured surface, put one half in a pie plate, dump the filling in, then put the other half on top. Cut slits in. Grab a pastry brush and brush beaten egg or fresh milk on top of the crust to give it a nice colour when it's done cooking.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5rQ2q4S0i-xiOwBucJlge4W982fUJVBxcgma4f-zGTTFlID-4CEBp4Jf9Isy90L1TnTgN2SXWSJOb7rTbRqTdwOcnk2oYEbdxNSbp0HForcmH8iJ5qNs0XPj1cNlXjLPS_392CxQMLM8/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5rQ2q4S0i-xiOwBucJlge4W982fUJVBxcgma4f-zGTTFlID-4CEBp4Jf9Isy90L1TnTgN2SXWSJOb7rTbRqTdwOcnk2oYEbdxNSbp0HForcmH8iJ5qNs0XPj1cNlXjLPS_392CxQMLM8/s320/006.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Stick in a 375deg F oven for about an hour.<br />
<br />
Enjoy!<br />
<br />

I was like 50k words in a month? Cake.<br />
<br />
Not so much. That cake was a lie. I got writers block not even 8000 words in. That and life took over, husband came home with a broken leg, distraction upon distraction, you get the idea. Now, I'm trying to get over it.<br />
<br />
I had a few wonderful suggestions over Twitter on how to get over it, and I'm really trying. I WANT this novel series to take off, and go somewhere. I HAVE the world, culture and story in my head. It just doesn't want to come out smoothly.<br />
<br />
I don't want to front load my novel. I don't want to make it too sparse either. I want to set up the conflict, but I don't want it to be terribly obvious either.<br />
<br />
It's such a delicate balance. I don't want to put out a bad novel. I want to put out a GOOD one. Properly written, rich story, rich characters and a rich world that the reader can get lost in. <br />
<br />
I've seen so many BAD books make the NYT Best-seller's list it isn't even funny. Twilight, 50Shades...it's rather sad, really. There are so many GOOD indie authors out there that put out great books, that get buried under that tripe.<br />
<br />
Right now I'm reading and re-reading the stuff I have already, seeing what I can flesh out, prune, or whatever. I don't want a sub par book. I believe people are smarter than that. I KNOW my potential readers have brains, and deserve to be entertained by a well written book.Meltedsnowgirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13512204394279906515noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7774599104058192219.post-48916414530201621212013-04-17T10:29:00.001-03:002013-04-17T10:29:17.115-03:00I have really nothing to say.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The Boston Marathon bombings made me sad, and angry. Twitter needs to shut up about the whole speculation as to who did it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
They'll find out eventually because someone who wants to create that much carnage has to be a grade A attention whore.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until then, Here's a funny video that will make you go WTF in a good way</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

Not taking away the seriousness of the event. I'm just trying to distract all the speculators and "False Flag" people with a funny shiny.Meltedsnowgirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13512204394279906515noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7774599104058192219.post-22015641284853352952013-04-11T13:33:00.001-03:002013-04-11T14:17:48.562-03:00Cole Harbour, The Canadian Stubenville.It's no real secret. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I'm also pretty angry at the whole rape culture/Slut shame culture/bully culture that has seeped slowly into humanity over the course of the centuries.<br />
<br />
There was an incident, not an hour away from me, 18 months ago, a young teen got gang raped. Pictures were taken, and distributed all across the internet far and wide. Sound familiar? Sounds like Stubenville right? Well that's where you're wrong. <br />
<br />
Cases between Cole Harbour and Stubenville end there. <br />
<br />
Jane Doe got justice.<br />
<br />
Rehtaeh Parsons, did not. Actually, after 18 months of Hell on Earth. Bullying, slut shaming, sexual harassment, all as a result of teenage boys taking pictures and showing the world how they violated that young woman, she couldn't take it anymore. She hanged herself in her bathroom.<br />
<br />
The RCMP, said, there was not sufficient evidence to press charges. THAT IS FUCKED. I'm sorry. There was PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE of this crime. Remember the rules? Pix or it didn't happen, yo! Well there's the evidence.<br />
<br />
I am just sick to my stomach about this.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://thechronicleherald.ca/metro/1122650-rehtaeh-parsons-was-my-daughter" target="_blank">These are the words of her father.</a> The pain from that newspaper article...you can feel it.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.change.org/petitions/justice-for-rehtaeh-demand-an-independent-inquiry-into-the-police-investigation" target="_blank">Here is a petition for you to please sign, to get justice for Rehtaeh. </a> The more pressure we put on the Justice Dept of Nova Scotia to re-open her case, and charge those perverts with the crime they committed. Even if she won't be alive to testify...I hope those who have the pictures, can come forward, and submit the evidence.<br />
<br />
PLEASE..sign the petition, and please let's get justice for Rehtaeh. Jane Doe got justice for her case...let's keep up the momentum. Teach that it is NOT OK TO RAPE.<br />
<br />

Ya'll can just not bother reading this or watching this I don't care.<br />
<br />
See, my daughter has Aspergers/Autism. She's verbal, she just has the whole "Social Issues" kids with it have.<br />
<br />
She also has obsessions. Or rather, single focused interests. That's a more diplomatic way of putting it. Her kick right now, is Pokemon. I love pokemon as well (no Mudkipz plz) <br />
<br />
Well a couple of weeks ago, we all came down with this nasty stomach bug. We knew that the 3DS XL Pikachu edition would be coming out on the 24th of March. Well I sent my husband to Walmart on that day, because we were sick, to get us some gravol (anti-nausiant for you American people) and some Pepto Bismol to ease our suffering. He went to the electronics aisle, and saw a Pikachu edition 3DS. <br />
<br />
He bought it. For my daughter. She's been wanting a 3DS FOR..EV..ER I mean FOREVER. This, was the only ONE in our town. The girl *just* put it out in the display case. That's how limited edition it is.<br />
<br />
My daughter's 10th birthday was yesterday, but we waited until today to give her her presents, because that's when my parents were going to be coming down. <br />
<br />
This was the result:<br />

<br />
We got a bunch of goodies, like apples, and carrots. We also got a couple of things people would find odd, and wouldn't know what to do with.<br />
<br />
Like Celeriac and purple fingerling potatoes. Last night I made scalloped potatoes with celeriac and some normal looking potatoes, was meh.<br />
<br />
Today, I still had a chunk of celeriac root ( <a href="http://www.worldcommunitycookbook.org/season/guide/celeriac.html" target="_blank">Click here to see WTF I'm talking about</a> ) left, so I decided to make, potato pancakes with a couple of the purple/blue fingerling potatoes, and the rest of the celeriac root.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3oYsdgtUP-P7bHYRcxStaAhUXftEZ6QZPMjH2XpDQfqh8pLCkxBgWF-Iw789kfZxacI2AYlRz9JllwsxTisqGuJVf6-qfMMM5U8bHhBprX3VGTwqUGwWH-gCuX2JdYNRxUeQKiN3rXeU/s1600/3p5acd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3oYsdgtUP-P7bHYRcxStaAhUXftEZ6QZPMjH2XpDQfqh8pLCkxBgWF-Iw789kfZxacI2AYlRz9JllwsxTisqGuJVf6-qfMMM5U8bHhBprX3VGTwqUGwWH-gCuX2JdYNRxUeQKiN3rXeU/s320/3p5acd.jpg" width="231" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's the recipe for the potato pancakes:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You'll need:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2 Purple fingerling potatoes (don't bother peeling they're like the whole 'new' potatoes with the super thin peel) grated</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
about 1/8 or so of a large chunk of celeriac root, peeled and grated</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 egg</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1/4 or 1/2 cup of flour, depending how juicy the veggies are</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2 tsp of baking powder</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1tsp of dried thyme</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1tsp black pepper</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1/2 tsp of salt (or whatever you think is good)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Mix all this in a bowl.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then Grab half of it, and put it in a hot greased pan (I used bacon grease because well bacon grease is good) smush it down into a pancake. Grab the other half and repeat. Cook on one side until set/brown then flip...cook until other side is brown, flip...cook for another 5 minutes or so...just flipping so each side doesn't burn...so it's all cooked inside.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I served mine topped with the alfalfa sprouts I got from the farmshare and a side of bacon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yeah they look kinda funky because of the purple potatoes, but they taste pretty damn good. </div>

Oh and the scalloped potato recipe</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3 medium potatoes scrubbed and sliced into rounds.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2 cups milk</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1/4 cup flour</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1tsp rosemary (dried or fresh)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1/2 tsp salt</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I didn't get a picture of it before we ate it. Was kinda meh, needed more salt at the table for us. Feel free to add bacon and cheese if you want. Next time I'm gonna do that.</div>

It isn't City of Heroes. Nothing will ever come close to that game. But the thing is, MWO is NOT run by NCSoft, but by Infinite Games Publishing. So...that is a point in it's favour right off the bat. Now, I never really was into the whole Battletech universe. Big Stompy mechs, were cool, I liked the concept, but I never really got *into* it back in the late 90's early 2000's or so. (earlier if you're into the tabletop game, but that required friends, mine were into the Marvel Universe so we played that as the pen and paper/tabletop)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHDLsmYePNwMDz1SI3QoghVcCxzfVz-FW0iM79fqGNLkV2A41avV74BDzajwRjbjS3os_0hUtaG-Fifjsjkunmy8GClyY9tagt00aKEd_GUbUzNyZnMV2OSnmUYBxlCoWuaghcVHyh0qo/s1600/moldesktop2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHDLsmYePNwMDz1SI3QoghVcCxzfVz-FW0iM79fqGNLkV2A41avV74BDzajwRjbjS3os_0hUtaG-Fifjsjkunmy8GClyY9tagt00aKEd_GUbUzNyZnMV2OSnmUYBxlCoWuaghcVHyh0qo/s1600/moldesktop2.jpg" height="200" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>My main mech chassis right now is the Centurion.</i></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
This was a bit different though. My husband was totally into Battletech, and Mechwarrior before we got married, and when Mechwarrior Online got announced, he was extremely happy. We're a couple that games together. Most women are like "UGH my husband games ALL THE TIME and I HATE IT because he never spends time with ME ME ME ME ME". I'm not like that. I actively try to get interested in what my husband is interested in and try to connect with him at that level. <br />
<br />
Thing is, MWO, is Player vs Player (aka PVP) I've had some *very* bad experiences in PVP arenas in the past. Mostly because, I'm not the greatest gamer in the world. There I said it. I'm not l33t, I'm not uber. I play to have FUN. I don't take it seriously. Anyway, I was very hesitant to get involved in MWO mostly due to the PVP aspect. League of Legends, Call of Duty, all have their share of prepubescent dickheads that shout endless amounts of abuse at you through their mic over teamspeak...will MechWarrior's community be any different?<br />
<br />
It is. Especially if you get in with a great gaming company that can teach you the ropes. I got in with the company my husband got into during closed beta. <a href="http://the-bwc.com/" target="_blank">The Black Widow Company. Aka Bravo Whiskey Charlie.</a> They don't just do MWO, They're pretty well entrenched in Planetside2, and have been running their own Real Life paintball company as well. They're also gearing up for Star Citizen when it gets released. So if any of those games appeal to you, and you want a great close knit corps, head on over and tell them MeltedSnowgirl sent you in your application post on the forums.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Now, from a game play perspective. MWO has a decent learning curve. Luckily for you, there's an offline training area where you can go stomp and blow up dummies to your hearts content while you get used to the mech controls. This game has joystick/Throttle/Rudder support. Don't worry about that, it's how my husband plays. Me I'm a mouse and keyboard gal and enjoy it that way. (that and I don't have enough room on my desk for a full joystick setup..too much crud..I need to clean ugh). The controls, once you get used to them, are pretty easy to deal with. *I* would recommend turning off throttle decay so you can move around easier during combat. Arm Lock, there are differing opinions on that, I'll just tell you it has improved my ability to target.<br />
<br />
Story-wise, they haven't brought in community warfare just yet. They plan on that this summer. So all the Major Houses and Merc Corps WILL BE blowing each other up eventually. Might even be ladders and real tourneys, who knows. I don't, but it would be cool. <br />
<br />
As for mech releases, they go with the timeline. There is no Clan-tech in game yet. There will be, don't worry. I'm still waiting on my Pink Urbanmech. *sigh* I like my waddling trashcan with legs. Giant pink R2-D2 with jump jets and boom sticks. <br />

<br />
<br />
I have so much fun in this game, mostly when I run drops with <a href="http://the-bwc.com/" target="_blank">The BWC.</a> If I run solo as a PUG it's pretty frustrating, but running with the company, we have fun, camaraderie, and more co-ordination over teamspeak, so we do more winning than losing. It's a team game, being part of an established team makes it WAY better.<br />

Oh and MWO is Free To Play. Yup. Download it and go. You need to run trial mechs until you can afford enough in game currency to get your first mech. You get a cadet bonus for the first 25 matches you're in so it adds up quick. You CAN spend real money on Mech Cash... Two types of currency in game, Cbills, that's the stuff you earn through normal play, and Mech Cash, that's bought with real money. You can buy Hero Mechs with MC, which boosts your Cbill earnings by %30. <br />
<br />
I can go on and on about this game. This entry is almost tl;dr as it is. I'll leave you with these links.<br />

<br />
I'm pretty stoked. This year we're doing an "experiment" of sorts with a local CSA/Farm Share. We locked ourselves into a 1 year commitment to a local farm/farms (They partner with a few other local farms so I guess it's a farm co-op of sorts) to get fresh, local produce and meat delivered every week.<br />
<br />
Everything is local, and mostly organic. The meat is locally produced and humanely raised and slaughtered. No factory BS there. So, yes it is possible to be an omni Nomny and still have ethics. Happy pigs make better bacon...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<i>mmm bacon</i></div>
<br />
There's more than just the ol factory farm for meat and egg production.<br />
<br />
AND, no GMO's. That makes my little TechnoHippy heart happy (no relation to TechnoViking let me tell you)<br />
<br />
Local and in season meat and produce, I will most definitely be reviving the recipe portion of this blog. <br />
<br />
Honestly, I totally suggest my readers to look up CSA's that are in your area. Support your local farmers. Down with the factory farms and Monsantomongers. You'll get your moneys worth and more if you do that. Your health will thank you and your local farmers will thank you. If you live around the costal area, and like fish (We have some serious seafood allergies here) Talk to a local fisherman to see if you can buy a share of his catch. Fresh right off the wharf. You'll probably get a better deal from him on a few lobster and some scallops than you would from Mr Highliner. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Pizza Lasagna!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ingredients:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
SAUCE</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1lb Mild Itallian Sausage (uncased, Johnsonville makes some)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1/2 Large White Onion (minced)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1Tbsp Clubhouse Italliano Seasoning blend (or whatever Itallian seasoning blend you have on hand)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1Tbsp Clubhouse Montreal Chicken Spice</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4 cloves minced garlic</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1tbsp butter</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 Can of your favorite tomato sauce (I use one that's roasted garlic and herb flavoured)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Put diced onion in a large skillet, top with butter and 1tbsp of italliano seasoning. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Cover and let steam until onion is soft. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Remove cover, put sausage in, break up with spatula until crumbly, cover and steam a few minutes, until no longer pink. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Remove Lid Add Chicken Spice and minced garlic, Move sausage/onions off to the sides of the pan making a well and let the fat accumulate in the middle of the pan and use a paper towel to mop out the fat (it's safer than draining it into a jar IMO, drain fat however you want) Add the tomato sauce, cover and simmer for about 10 minutes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
ADDITIONAL:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Before you add the tomato sauce into the Sausage/onion mix, Dump it into a blender with some fresh kale, cooked sweet potato, green peppers (if you are not putting them in the lasagna proper) or whatever veg you know your family SHOULD eat, but won't eat. It's a great way to sneak all sorts of green leafy goodness into very picky eaters.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
While you're throwing together your sauce, cook 12 lasagna noodles according to package direction (or however many that will create 3 layers in your lasagna pan)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Other Ingredients:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Pepperoni (about 12 slices per layer)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Salami (about 12 slices per layer)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you like green peppers/onions/olives on your pizza, feel free to use those too, I can't stand those tbh so I leave them out..my kids don't like em either.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Shredded cheese of your choice. I use Kraft's Itallian blend. It's Stringy Mozzarella, Parm, Provalone and Edame I think...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
ASSEMBLY<br />
<br />
In a greased Lasagna/casserole pan, start with a thin layer of sauce, Then noodles, then cheese, Then Pepperoni and salami, add more sauce, repeat. The top layer should be: Noodles, Sauce, Cheese, Pepperoni. In that order (for aesthetics tbh)<br />
<br />
Bake covered in a 400deg F oven for 45 minutes. Remove cover for 10 minutes for cheese to brown/bubble. Remove from oven then let sit for another 10 minutes.<br />
<br />
ENJOY!Meltedsnowgirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13512204394279906515noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7774599104058192219.post-32138520282838126092013-03-22T11:29:00.000-03:002013-03-22T11:29:30.829-03:00Gonna talk about something delicate.(Discussing heterosexual issues here, I'm not Lesbian, so I have NO ideas how sexual refusal dynamics work in GLBT relationships...I'll leave that to people who are more versed in that culture than I am, and feel free to chime in on the blog with your comments. I'm not being Heteroist on purpose, honestly)<br />
<br />
Here's a rhetorical question for you. Do you think that sexual refusal in long term relationships, is linked to the rape/slut shame/Sex negative view that is pushed on women? I mean both sides. I know women who refuse to put out to their long term male partners, and men who refuse to put out to their long term female partners. <br />
<br />
If you think about it, from an early age, we women are taught that you need to dress a certain way for boys to respect you, if you dress any other way, you're pretty much pushing the envelope, and will lose their respect. If you wear a low cut top, a short skirt, or even shorts in the summer...showing ANY skin is an invitation for judgement as one of "those" girls. So, as a woman you take it upon yourself to dress from head to toe, so you don't "tempt" your "weaker brother". (notice the sarcasm quotes) From day one, you're taught that men can't control their libidos. They're always after you. It's up to you to keep them from succumbing to their baser natures. Heck, you're taught that sex is "Base" and "dirty" and "Wrong" and that only "Bad Girls" do it. Right? So you give into pressure from your boyfriend, and have sex. Shit happens. You're human, it's only natural to want to have sex. It's a pretty strong biological urge after all. It feels good, (and leaving procreation out of it..) it puts the whole pavlovian happy response in your brain. You're now labeled as "Damaged" "That Girl" "Slut" "whore", and now anything any man wants to do with you is fair game. You wanted it once, you must want it all the time right?<br />
<br />
The guy, who pressured you into sex the first time, he has his own set of cultural conditioning. Since YOU are supposedly responsible for all his sexual thoughts, as a woman, he isn't responsible at all. He's just a walking penis waiting to ravage anything he comes across. After all, that's what he's been taught through society all these years. Right? He's gotta be "The Man" and "Bang as many chicks as possible", or here's a major kicker, he's looked at as gay if he doesn't at least score with one chick, and is bullied and ridiculed. <br />
<br />
So when they get into some long term relationships, be it marriage, or just common-law, after doing the initial "Reel Em In Because" sex, they shut down. If it's female refusal, it's to keep him on track, or "Good Girls Don't, and I want to be a good girl again, I want him to respect me, no man respects sluts". If it's male refusal, it's to show her that he isn't just a walking bag of testosterone and testicles waiting to ravage her at any moment, and wants to gain her respect by showing her that he's a "virtuous" male, and not like the other guys. <br />
<br />
Sex, should be something willingly given, from both parties. Not taken. It's not a weapon, it's not something used to control your partner. It's a bonding experience for both parties. It's something to do to get your rocks off...it's hella fun, and it shouldn't be used as a way to shame or control anyone. Taking it is wrong. Refusing it because you want to control someone, is wrong as well.<br />
<br />
Girls, you aren't "Bad" or "Dirty" or "Evil" for wanting to have sex. Guys, you aren't a potential rapist, you're smart enough to control what's between your legs. In a relationship, sex should be a gift you give one another because you love each other. If you're withholding it for any reason, time to evaluate what's up with the relationship that makes you not trust that person to that point. When I say withholding I mean Long Term Marriage/Commonlaw Relationship, not a short term 'hey I just met you and this is crazy' deal...of course if you want to have a one night stand, fill your boots, but no means no in monogamous relationships as well as the short term ones...thing is sex in long term relationships help re-enforce that pair bonding. There's biology to back that up as well...but I won't get into that yet...<br />
<br />
<br />
Of course that's just my rambling. I think refusal and rape are each an edge of the same double edged sword. Both are used as a way to control and hurt another person. I also think they share the roots in the rape/slut shame culture. <br />
<br />
I welcome comments on this. It's a ramble, probably makes no sense, but if it makes you think...then that's good, too.<br />
<br />Meltedsnowgirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13512204394279906515noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7774599104058192219.post-36333243249076746612013-03-19T08:43:00.002-03:002013-03-19T08:43:40.745-03:00Stubenville Rape rant.The verdict is in. The boys are guilty. Why the hell is the media going "Aww Poor boys their lives are ruined!" You know what, (Bad word laced rant coming up) <br />
<br />
Fuck them. Just...fuck them. They ruined their lives the moment they decided that putting their dicks anywhere near a passed out drunk girl, was a good idea. And those who took part in documenting the whole thing? Just UGH...you guys make me sick too.<br />
<br />
The whole rape culture makes me ill. "If she didn't drink" "If she didn't flirt with him" You know what, the only thing anyone should do with a person who is inebriated to the point of blackout is put them in the first aid recovery position and monitor for alcohol poisoning...then act accordingly as per 911 instructions. It does not involve any genital contact whatsoever. The whole case makes me sick. The whole defense of those assholes makes me sick. Rape culture needs to go away...like forever.<br />
<br />
Oh and the ones who are going on about "Well they are only children! They didn't have the judgement yadda yadda yadda" Well here's my rebuttal to you; those who took the photographic and video evidence of the crime and spreading it all over social media should be arrested and tried for production and distribution of child pornography (Or as I like to call them, Child Abuse Images) And landed on the sex offender registry as well.<br />
<br />
Just because someone is passed out drunk, does not give anyone the right to have sex with them. <br />
<br />
Just because someone flirts with you, does not give you the right to have sex with them if they don't outright say "Hey let's go have sex!" (or any other term)<br />
<br />
If someone goes to your place, to hang out, and it's too late to catch the bus home and they need to crash there, YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE SEX WITH THEM.<br />
<br />
If YOU don't want someone to take sexual advantage of YOU when you are all messed up from drugs or alcohol, DO NOT DO IT TO SOMEONE ELSE. Think about it if it were you in that situation. Would YOU like it? No? Well guess what they wouldn't either.<br />
<br />
I really do hope those boys get their heads on straight, and that other teens learn from their mistake. I hope this case blows open the top of the can of worms that is the rape culture in this society, so we can pick it apart, and throw it away, and make it possible for everyone to have the right to safety and unwanted sexual contact. <br />
<br />
This whole issue was triggery for me...because I had something similar occur to me. No the guy didn't video it...he didn't take pictures...but it was still a rape while I was intoxicated. I didn't press charges BECAUSE of the prevailing rape culture surrounding us. For the longest time, I was blaming myself. You know what, now, I realize It wasn't my fault. Just as it wasn't Jane Doe's fault in Stubenville. Jane Doe, if you're reading this... It wasn't your fault. You were brave, going forth and pressing charges against your attackers. You have more balls than I do I tell you that right now. Don't let it hold you back. You're not "less than" You are not a whore, you are not a slut. You are a victim of people who didn't know how to keep their genitals in their pants. Who decided to make a cruel joke out of you. Make a cruel joke out of them. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5U89DAwNBYEZV1C9NbkV9oSNwH84bsLbIouUyHxPEoCESxoB7fgD6EaGCeExm1AiQDr4-IHKDOn5F2BnPiIdNS3Ok2lYSoZz6biCRimWUGZMBNz-4iGHqcxYZbjQSqURbXL52s7rQaPg/s1600/82-3401_glow_in_dark_pebbles.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5U89DAwNBYEZV1C9NbkV9oSNwH84bsLbIouUyHxPEoCESxoB7fgD6EaGCeExm1AiQDr4-IHKDOn5F2BnPiIdNS3Ok2lYSoZz6biCRimWUGZMBNz-4iGHqcxYZbjQSqURbXL52s7rQaPg/s1600/82-3401_glow_in_dark_pebbles.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now THESE look freeking sweet. I mean really. Sorry for the Napoleon Dynamite reference there, but MAN...I would so get these for my garden. I have a pebbly walkway on either side of my driveway and these would so rock it there. (Hah...see what I did there? That was a pun /Peter Griffin)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's getting to be spring time, people will be puttering around in their gardens...these would make a great accent to YOUR garden, wouldn't it? I know it would be in mine. I don't know if these are fish safe, so I wouldn't use these in an aquarium set up. I thought about it too, don't worry.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Glow-in-the-dark pebbles mark a path or highlight a flower bed! 100 piece set Line a walkway, edge a flower bed or fill a planter with these unique acrylic pebbles. After being exposed to daylight, these pebbles glow in the dark! Glow lasts approximately two to three hours after full sun exposure. These are a flat marble size and are made of a poly resin material</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuj17qUn85Uk2WUc16CyXi52GhoyIoXj3UDWbQRpp4JHA8nOkQpPaUVBB6zthDwq9srQTP4EGzc4f4z5O5dh1xWkmWvlIrw0gwS7Ab-CHnNOU2KsGeXMyIUvRymGfB-Ui2RTfaA40655E/s1600/183413_laptop_cooler.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuj17qUn85Uk2WUc16CyXi52GhoyIoXj3UDWbQRpp4JHA8nOkQpPaUVBB6zthDwq9srQTP4EGzc4f4z5O5dh1xWkmWvlIrw0gwS7Ab-CHnNOU2KsGeXMyIUvRymGfB-Ui2RTfaA40655E/s1600/183413_laptop_cooler.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When you're sitting down, and about to do a drop in either PS2 or MWO (or WoW, or whatever game you play) on your high powered gaming laptop, you don't want your balls roasting off. You need these. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So instead of saying "AW MY BALLS ARE ON FIRE!!!" you can be all like "Woah...that's cool..now I'm gonna pwn some n00bs" as you fire up the next match.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Enough with the humor. Time to get super serious. See, over time, increased heat can ruin your laptop's battery and CPU life. If you have inadequate air circulation around your intakes (and face it on most laptops the intakes are on the bottom) you start to roast your laptop. That is NOT good. I did that to mine. It's a PITA to crack open and fix too. I got one of these and I haven't had another overheat (after I re-applied the thermal grease to the heat sink..it was like baked clay I tell you..ugh) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyway here's all the technical stuff from the manufacturer's website. If it's tl;dr and you still want it, scroll down, read the loud red text, and push the "Buy Now" button.</div>

<br />
Life here isn't too shabby. I'm still cooking stuff, (Given because if I didn't my family wouldn't eat, well at least anything more than frozen nuggets tossed in the oven and spaghetti...)<br />
<br />
It was my birthday two days ago and my husband took us to Halifax for some awesome wining and dining and Discovery Center goodness. Kids had a blast, I had the most epic Shwarma and burger you could ever have. <a href="http://venuspizza.com/" target="_blank">Venus Pizza</a> right down town Halifax, had the shwarma. It was so good. They loaded it up with pickles and turnips. For the epic burger and poutine, it was <a href="http://www.thecoast.ca/halifax/cheese-curds-gourmet-burgers-poutinerie/Location?oid=2960399" target="_blank">Cheese Curds</a> in Dartmouth. I had their Honolulu burger and a small poutine. I was DEFEATED...but man it was so good...the bacon, the beef...Oh man...delish!!!<br />
<br />
My mom got me a mandoline and a funky herb slicer for my birthday. I was happy. <br />
<br />
Since times are tight *my birthday fell on the day our tax return came in so shush* I've taken to selling some things on Ebay. <a href="http://www.ebay.com/sch/pandora114/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25&_trksid=p3686" target="_blank">You can check out my listings here.</a> I'll just be slowly adding stuff over the next few days, so if you see it and like it, grab it!<br />
<br />
Also, here's a way for you to get some cash too <a href="http://www.sfi1.biz/12412401" target="_blank">SFI Affiliate Program. Make money from home!</a> <br />
<br />
So yeah, I had a great birthday. Only thing I could have gotten that would have made it even better is a job. (sigh) Oh well. It should happen eventually.Meltedsnowgirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13512204394279906515noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7774599104058192219.post-18964143381578915112013-03-13T13:08:00.000-03:002013-03-13T18:07:38.719-03:00Making money onlineYes! It's possible. It's a slow process though. Things have been pretty tight here, so I've been trying my hand at making money online...mostly through paid surveys and Pay To Click sites. It's a little something anyway, I figure I'll share what I've been doing, that way you guys can make a few bucks as well.<br />
<br />
First is a couple of paid to click sites.<br />
<br />
This first one is Clixsense.com It's pretty good. Pays you to click ads, and to do little random tasks. You can easily make $30/day if you buckle down and do every task and offer provided. They pay out through paypal so it's all good. <br />
<a href="http://9960bf38.seriousdeals.net/" target="_blank">Clixsense.com</a><br />
<br />
<br />
Next is NeoBux. It's been around for a while, and like Clixsense.com it pays you to click and look at ads, and do little random tasks as well.<br />
<a href="http://db238ecd.seriousdeals.net/" target="_blank">Neobux</a><br />
<br />
Rapidworkers is a place where you can sign up, do little odd jobs, and get paid for doing. Some of these jobs are putting links on your blog/page, or doing surveys, stuff like that...No affiliate link, I won't get a kickback if you sign up.<br />
<a href="http://rapidworkers.com/" target="_blank">http://rapidworkers.com/</a><br />
<br />
That's my Odesk profile. You join up Odesk, and do their little tests, and then you apply for contract jobs, do the jobs, and voila you get paid. Or you can hire me through odesk to do your random crap. It's up to you. Heh. Anyway it's legit. They have an escrow type service so you'll get paid no matter what. Free to sign up so what the heck. In this market, it's worth a go.<br />
<a href="https://www.odesk.com/users/~01e0e3f2c58c9b05c4" target="_blank">https://www.odesk.com/users/~01e0e3f2c58c9b05c4</a><br />
<br />

I've been playing The Secret World, and Mech Warrior Online, since City of Heroes went down. <br />
<br />
I'll post what I think about TSW. It's a great game. The story is epic and far reaching, and very well written. This isn't a game that you want to power through though, I feel like it's something that you should take your time and savour. There are puzzles however, some of which are pretty damn hard. Like so hard to the point that you want to punch your monitor. Luckily there are guides out there to help you out. I'll post a link to such a guide down the page.<br />
<br />
Back to the review. The Secret World lends itself well to both solo play, and team play. The environment is very well done, there are a huge variety of quests, from action, where you just shoot or slash things, sabotage, where you have to sneak through, and then the investigation missions, those are really awesome, and also pit your wits against the game. (sometimes you need help with these)<br />
<br />
Combat, can be sketchy. I love the active dodge, but the repetitive 1-2-1-2-3-4 combination gets kinda old after a while. <br />
<br />
Build wise, you don't NEED an alt. You can literally use everything in the game. Just need to build up your skill wheel. They use AP and SP to build skills up. Rather intuitive.<br />
<br />
Dungeons are challenging, as well. <br />
<br />
The only problem I have with this game is it's gear based like most MMO's (except COH) So when you get through the story, you get to the end of game gear grind again.<br />
<br />
FunCom does release regular content updates as well, so you're not totally lost without new stories for too terribly long, so if you're not into the grind then you don't have to.<br />
<br />
The best thing is, It has NO subscription. You buy the box, and that's it. Kinda like Guildwars. (but not NCsoft) Sure it's "Ermahgerd EA lol" (especially after that SimCity fiasco) but Funcom is a good studio to support IMO.<br />
<br />
So yeah if you are playing TSW, and need a little boost, you can click on this link <a href="http://52336bxq4ho8tapn7yv8u87qeu.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=TSW" target="_blank">Click here for a guide on The Secret World, walkthrough and PVP strats and more.</a><br />
<br />
So yeah! It's really not that bad of a game. I enjoy it tremendously. You can find me as LacusMortius over on Leviathan server.<br />

I missed the grand finale because I needed to be up today to get my daughter to her Lego Robot competition. As always, my friends were disappointed, but, understanding, when I couldn't show up for something. That was the most awesome thing about this community. If you couldn't make something due to life, they understood and didn't guilt you. They might have joshed around with you a bit, but they did understand.<br />
<br />
I'm going to miss the game. I didn't play much after the Extra Life thing, and I know that. I do regret it, but I just couldn't bring myself to visit my dying friend. I said my goodbyes last night in my own way. I hate goodbyes. I hate repeats.<br />
<br />
I have faith that whatever Titan Network has planned as a spiritual successor, will be absolutely beautiful, or, if Disney does manage to pry the IP out of NCsoft's cold greedy soulless hands, then I hope my characters will be restored. If not, I have them committed to memory. <br />
<br />
Kahlan Raynes. My Elec/Kinetic Corruptor. Married in game to my husband's Mercs/FF MM Alpha-One/Alec Raynes.<br />
<br />
Gabriella Di Inferno My Mace/Elec brute. The Rikti Destroying Machine. Jawbreaker looks like she's smashing nads since she's tiny.<br />
<br />
Sharp Pointy Stik. My Arch/TA Corr. Ran an All TA ITF spearheaded by her, and we won.<br />
<br />
o.0 My bane.<br />
<br />
I didn't screenie all of them..I should have but I guess I didn't. One other stupid thing I guess..wishful thinking? I dunno. I was just really attached to Kahlan though<br />
<br />
Oh Rogue Ivy, my plant/thorn Dom. My flagship Villain.<br />
<br />Terrana Nightside, my Emp-Psi defender...another flagship homage since both my flagship toons were on my husbands account.<br />
<br />
Sybil Nightside, my first ever 50, when I shared my husbands account.<br />
<br />
The role call is long...and sad...all those "lives" snuffed out with a careless flick of a switch. <span style="background-color: black;"><span style="color: white;"><span style="font-family: 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;"> Just because we aren't running our butts off in a physical means, doesn't mean we aren't pushing ourselves to the limits of our endurance for the cause, to raise money and awareness for the cause we are passionate in. We are Gamers, We are Heroes, we are members of society. We game, it's what we do well. Just like marathon runners. So, when someone approaches you with an Extra Life link, it's legit. It's a legitimate way to raise money for Children's Hospitals across North America. If you have questions about it, email your local Children's Miracle Network hospital directly and ask them.</span></span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: black;"><span style="color: white;"><br style="font-family: 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;" /></span></span>
<span style="background-color: black; color: white; font-family: 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;">At around 6am I was literally TREMBLING From exhaustion. I mean I was pushing my limits as a human being to keep a commitment to my donors. </span><br />
<span style="background-color: black;"><span style="color: white;"><br style="font-family: 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;" /></span></span>
<span style="background-color: black; color: white; font-family: 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;">I tried to be a hero for the local kids. I hope I made a difference in my own way.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: black;"><span style="color: white;"><span style="font-family: 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;">Anyway this is how I logged off at the end of my 24hr City of Heroes run. We had a Milliyun Tiny Pepsimen March earlier in the evening to honour one of our most iconic players on the server, Pepsiman. His incredible sense of humour, wit, and silliness is one the things that makes Guardian such a great place to be. I rolled there because it was at the top of the list, I stayed there because of the friendly people.</span></span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRxGjMWur56ls6CSMNVNd1UDb9UUvlL5RIpzr-Na7ANilYWb45cSKbi91oP9_v-BcxEZBn69foVFPAbqFv-H4Fp_Yh7CH4qlcsgeibhjSy544UelcZf5rAETrQD67MQNfpLpvJjUGJFKo/s1600/screenshot_121021-08-00-41.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRxGjMWur56ls6CSMNVNd1UDb9UUvlL5RIpzr-Na7ANilYWb45cSKbi91oP9_v-BcxEZBn69foVFPAbqFv-H4Fp_Yh7CH4qlcsgeibhjSy544UelcZf5rAETrQD67MQNfpLpvJjUGJFKo/s1600/screenshot_121021-08-00-41.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I do hope this game gets saved. I really enjoyed my 24hr stint of madness for Extra Life Charities. I hope I can run with the same people again next year. NCsoft, please sell the IP...This community does things like this regularly. If you split us up...you divide the good we can do together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
All together for Extra Life, we raised <a href="http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.team&teamID=9445" target="_blank">Over $8500 !!!!! For the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals!</a> That is PHENOMENAL considering how small our community is compared to that of Reddit. That's quite a bit of change. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So destroying our world, also divides the amount of good we can do. :( Please...please if you haven't yet, go over to <a href="http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php/board,134.0.html" target="_blank">The Titan Network</a> and get involved in one of the many "Calls To Action" TonyV, and the rest of the community, has going on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thank you.</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhezhgVIaFqV9zSTrIecdZ1jRV_-yzTAetAzZWbWzz0AbS45bjzuA_O6CQKLDTA48xoC13CvGo_GIspJFKP15yHOUPnGk8NFDw_F7SY1_zcQ-RbUwnr29G-2arOOG93AS_ig1XnSq63SJ4/s1600/Z9320268-Dog_chewing_bone-SPL.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="220" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhezhgVIaFqV9zSTrIecdZ1jRV_-yzTAetAzZWbWzz0AbS45bjzuA_O6CQKLDTA48xoC13CvGo_GIspJFKP15yHOUPnGk8NFDw_F7SY1_zcQ-RbUwnr29G-2arOOG93AS_ig1XnSq63SJ4/s320/Z9320268-Dog_chewing_bone-SPL.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'll answer. The dog will give you the bone if you tell it to, enough times. If you leave it alone, the dog will probably find a nice secluded spot in your yard, and bury it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As a community we need to keep telling the dog (NCsoftcore) to drop the bone, (CoH's IP) So we can do what we want with it...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm just sick of NCsoft sitting there growling at us as we tell it to drop the bone. They don't need it, they don't want it anymore, but they refuse to let it go so they'll go off and bury it in the yard if you don't grab it, but it must be done in such a way that it becomes their idea so they don't bite you.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So frustrating. There have been offers for the IP. NCsoft is refusing to let it go. "Tried all the options" is an outright lie. Stop lying to us. NCsoft drop the bone. DROP IT NOW. Give us the bone and we'll give you this awesome cookie. Cookie (millions of dollars) or bone? Let another owner run with it now. stop being greedy bastards.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<a href="http://www.reuters.com/finance/stocks/chart?symbol=036570.KS" target="_blank">Going down NCsoft?</a><br />
<br />
You would think that closing City of Heroes was a good business move the way they keep spinning this <a href="http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/news/news_archive/thank_you.php" target="_blank">"realignment of company focus"</a> , but it's sort of obvious now, that they have wound up shooting themselves in the foot.<br />
<br />
First: They kill off a profitable and family friendly game and community.<br />
<br />
Second: They make said community who role play as heroes and villains in their chosen MMO slightly perturbed. We vocalize our upset. That's understandable<br />
<br />
Third: <a href="http://us.ncsoft.com/en/news/response-to-city-of-heroes-player-and-fan-suggestions.html" target="_blank">They release this pile of steaming horse manure.</a> expecting us to be like<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://honda-tech.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=290652&d=1349414140" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://honda-tech.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=290652&d=1349414140" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well NCsoft, now you realize that it's not working. What you are doing, is not working. We will not shut up. We will not surrender. We will not stop calling you out on your heifer dust. <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/07/30/richard-garriott-wins-lawsuit-against-ncsoft/" target="_blank">DUDE! You forged Garriot's resignation letter when he was out in space! Like COME ON.</a> You really think after murdering 5 MMO's we would trust you with more of our money? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibHeiwUwacJMJTbPBAt1XS1zyatnfUP2YnbjLpjAp97l2RShmJhAzFQ0nI1o4GCHKNAlNh6RlmJuw9TQeLoor1e_v0zMZB_mzlTgXdIWjlQ5mfFSdcRGNv2Icx-70kx7vBU1rq-uaRO2w/s1600/6times.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibHeiwUwacJMJTbPBAt1XS1zyatnfUP2YnbjLpjAp97l2RShmJhAzFQ0nI1o4GCHKNAlNh6RlmJuw9TQeLoor1e_v0zMZB_mzlTgXdIWjlQ5mfFSdcRGNv2Icx-70kx7vBU1rq-uaRO2w/s320/6times.jpg" width="186" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Think again. I'm sort of glad I'm watching your stock holders bail like rats out of a sinking ship. I wouldn't blame them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Meltedsnowgirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13512204394279906515noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7774599104058192219.post-27690157800465213122012-10-08T10:25:00.002-03:002012-10-08T10:26:02.152-03:00NaNoWriMo is approachingI registered about 3 years ago for NaNo, I didn't do anything with it at the time. I just couldn't find any inspiration for a novel, let alone write a 50k + word one in a month, the way my life was going at the time. Well this year, I'll be participating. Why not? The worst that could happen is, I could bang out a 50k word filled pile of poo. Heck worse stuff got published. (Looking at you Twilight and 50Shades) So, maybe a new Sci-Fi author is on the horizon? I don't know. <br />
<br />
Anyway I have a rough outline, plot, environment and races going on. I'm just trying to figure out the specifics. Names, a dating system, and well conditions that make my ideas plausible without looking like Deus Ex Machina. <br />
<br />
This is a random blog after all so not all my rants are about NCsoft and the closure of City of Heroes. I'm still running that 24hr game marathon on the 20th for the IWK Grace (Points to sidebar link) with Team City of Heroes and Extra Life for Kids. <br />
<br />
I was going to write a fanfiction novel for my NaNo project using my City of Heroes/Villains characters, but, I'm hoping that maybe I'll get published (or even self publish) if the final project is good enough, so that was out. I really don't want to tread on any copyright toes, IP toes or whatever, and I have no idea about the legalities of even THINKING about getting permission to do that. I know, NaNo lets you write fanfiction for the contest. I figure why not come up with a new idea? Something original and not really seen in Sci-Fi/Fantasy? <br />
<br />
So off I go to figure out the name for my winged race. Winglie is taken by Legend of the Dragoon so that one is out..and Avillian is possibly taken/copyrighted by NCsoft just by the grace it came out of Matt Miller's noggin while he was working for them. So Imma go and put on my thinking cap....if any of my blog readers can come up with an idea for a name that would rock.
